DONEGAL BEACHES

With longest coastline in Ireland, approximately 1235 km/772 miles (which equates to nearly 20% of the coastline of Ireland), we have many, many sandy beaches from the large expansive beaches to the tiny hidden coves you can happen upon as you travel around County Donegal.
Whether you are wandering the Wild Atlantic Way or looking for a sandy beach to relax in the sunshine, or finding a huge open space to take a bracing, refreshing walk, we have them all.
Here we have gathered here just some of the beautiful beaches of County Donegal for you to enjoy.
Each section here has a tiny collection of photographs of each beach we have added just to give you a taste of that beach. And beside each gallery there is a google map to help you find your way there. Click on the photographs to move along the slide show or just let it slide along in ti's own time. Click on the map to get more detail.
NOTE: Although we have many Blue Flag Beaches, which means among other things, they are manned with lifeguards during certain summer months (usually July and August), we also have hundreds if not thousands of little (and some not so little) sandy beaches where you may be the only one there.
SAFETY: As with anywhere in the world, you need to be careful at beaches. Never use inflatable toys to float on in the water ~ a rip tide could pull you way out of your depth very quickly. Always check locally about such things as riptides etc. before going on to a beach. If you take food/drinks to the beach, take your rubbish home afterwards. Where dogs are allowed on the beach, clean up after your dog immediately and do not allow your do to run free on a beach ~ many people and children are scared of them and it can ruin their day out.
