The Bank Walk in Donegal town is a beautiful, scenic, and easy walk along the banks of the River Eske as if flows into the harbour of the town.
The green shelter of trees provides home to many species of bird, butterfly and other little creatures ~ including, if all the tiny doors and signs dotted along the way are to believed, fairies!
There are great views from the path as it winds its way along the trail: The Old Abbey, the harbour, and the islands of Donegal Bay.
The path is tarmaced so easy to walk on and easy for pushchairs and wheelchairs. It is approximately 2.5 km/ 1 and a half miles.
However, to make a longer walk of around 5km / 3 miles, one could start across the river at the harbour area and walk toward to the town veering left at the Waterbus Office and continue into the town, keeping to the left. The Diamond area of the town will be on your right.
Continue along the street and you will come to a bridge (Boyces Bridge), walk over the bridge and then to your left you will see the sign to the Bank Walk.
