Old Church of Ireland, Kilmacrennan (1622 ~ 1845)
The old Church of Ireland, Kilmacrennan
The ruins of the old Church of Ireland in Kilmacrennan can still be seen although there is not a lot of the original building left. The most intact of what is left is the battlement tower which was added sometime in the 17th century. There are however quite a number of old graves in the grounds of the church ruins.
The ruins and graveyard are just a few moments drive outside the village. To the left of the old church ruins is the grounds and ruins of Kilmacrennan Abbey.
The church that replaced this old church, The Church of St. Finian's & St. Mark (built 1846) is in the village.
