GUEST BOOK COMMENTS FOR WeLoveDonegal ~~~~~~~~~~ "I Have enjoyed you site so much. Donegal is also my love. I live in America now, But my heart is always in Donegal. I was raised in Goorey outside of Malin Town and went to school in Malin. My parents were Alex and Mary Ann Friel. My father is buried at Lagg church and my mother is still alive and will be 95 this year and lives in Carn hospital. My sister Frances own our little home in Goorey and my brother Felix owns the land . So we still get back to that heaven. I also have a sister Bridie that lives by Muff and sister Margaret that lives in America. Thank You." Angela Friel, June 2013 ~~~~~~~~~~ "I happened to come across this web site as I was looking for a bacon and cabbage recipe of all things! and since wondered if you could help me with quite a bizarre quest. I am looking for my father Patrick John Kearney ( I am not sure of the spelling} He would be in his late 70's, and I have never met him but know he came from Donegal. He spent his late teens in Essex, England where he lived in Great Baddow and met my mother. Sadly we have no idea of what happened to him just before I was born. I am living in Tasmania, Australia now and after seeing the beautiful photos on your site I understand why I felt so drawn to living here, it is so like Donegal - quite breathtaking. I have tried to find my father on various ' more conventional web sites but to no avail. I just thought it worth asking. Stranger things can happen and in ways wed never expect. Kindest regards." Lynne Dobinson, June 2013 ~~~~~~~~~~"Hello! Found your lovely website and it provides all the information we need for our vacation this August. Greetings from the Killybegs Information Centre. Just to let you know how terrific your website is. Full of information and wonderful images. your writings on Sliabh Liag and other places is especially valuable. Keep up the excellent work. Regards." Moya McHugh, Killybegs Information Centre, May 2013 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Hello, I stumbled across your wonderful website with the description and photographs of An Port, the Ghost village in Donegal. I have been there in 2007 and would like to return to this phantastic place. However, I have completely lost how to get there. Was it via Glencollumbkillie? Also do you know any exact geographic coordinates for An Port, which I could put into my nagivation system to find it again? I would be very happy to hear from you. Thank you. Kind regards from Germany." Tobias Gerritzen, May 2013 ~~~~~~~~~~ "What a wonderful web site! It has been almost a year since my husband and I, along with another couple, visited Ireland. We were fortunate to be able to stay a whole month. This was our second trip to Ireland, the two of us, the first time also being a month's visit (I'd gone in 2000 with an old college chum for two weeks.) We both just adore Ireland, but I am especially drawn to Donegal. Both visits, we stayed at a wonderful B&B just outside of Donegal Town, near Lake Eske and Barnesmore Gap. If I could make any suggestion at all, I would say that staying in B&Bs is the most delightful way to meet strangers who become friends and to feel more like one is a part of the local scene, than staying in hotels, which can so often be impersonal and rather "cookie-cutter" like. I am only just now putting our trip together into a photo book, and your website helped immensely in naming the places we visited in Co. Donegal but neglected to write the names down. Thank you SO much! I do hope one day to be able to return to your lovely part of the world, but I haven't had the nerve to tell my husband that another big trip is rattling around in my mind. I will keep coming back to your website to see what's new. Could you perhaps include a recipe for authentic Irish Scones? And Irish soda Bread? MMMmmmm! Again, thank you for your effort and your wonderful photography, Best to you," Cynthy Barnes, February 2013 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Lovely website. well done." Caitriona O'Doherty, December 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "A perfect part of God's Garden. Not only do I want to visit there, I want to move there! What are the possibilities of that?" Dana Botkin, September 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "What a great site for a Great County. My son and I visited Donegal - first time for both - last January. The people were so friendly, we felt at home. My paternal grandparents emigrated to the U.S. in the early 20th Century and we travelled to Donegal to somehow touch our Irish roots. We were sucesssful in finding the actual cottages were they were born and the resting place of my grandmother's parents. We will be back" Patrick Furey, July 2012. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Fantastic website and I've enjoyed reading! I was searching for information about Dunlewy Old Church and your site was the perfect resource :) Best wishes., Tom from Urban Ghosts." Tom Moran, July 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "I just came across this wonderful place where I lived for 19 years of my life. You have captured so much beauty. So much to tell that we did not ever know about. In portnoo highest point which can be viewed from Narin beach is the lookout post which was used to during world war 2 to watch out for u boats. i hope you find this information interesting." Kieran McLoughlin, June 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Thank you so much for what you are doing for Donegal and I am enjoying my new wallpaper, Garten Lake. I love the websites which I just learned about when you contacted the Donegal Association in Philadelphia, Pa. re them and the contest. I try to find more info about Donegal but so much is about the rest of Ireland. When I see entrees on a menu here in the USA with different Irish county names, I ask why Donegal isn't mentioned. An ancestor,Chas. Bogan, had "County Donegal, Ireland" on his tombstone here in Delaware and I'm so glad for I would never have known where in Ireland he came from. Thanks again." Mary Lee Bradley, June 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Happy to see this site and blog. My ancestors are from Donegal, Mountcharles. Last night I think we actually found the house my great-geat grandfather, Edward McGlinchey owned on Google map. I was in Ireland and Donegal in 2000. What a beautiful country! Hope to return soon and bring more family." Rosemary Hess, June 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Was here just last week and the energy was moving. Met some folks who were preparing for a festival. I felt honored to have spoken with those that were there." Suzanne McMurray, May 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Thanks for your efforts - great site. See you in May 2012. Thanks for the tips!" Trish Romano, April 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Your photographs on this site are truly beautiful and evocative! They remind me of my exploration of a remote part of Donegal last summer - an experience I enjoyed so much. My interest in this county has previously led me to include an extract about it in my book: "Singing on the Journey Home, with True Stories, Reflections & Photographs." Together with "A Biblical Journey through the Irish Year," both full colour books are available in Donegal libraries. I also make hand-crafted bookmarks with Irish (inc. Donegal scenes)which are free with all my books. Thank you again for those inspiring photographs!" Elizabeth Burke, February 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Hi, Just found your website 'We Love Donegal.com' and I agree with your sentiments completely. Donegal must be the lovliest place in all Ireland. My wife and I have just spent a weekend in Ballygorman, Malin Head (Feb 2012) and had a great time. When one arrives in Donegal for a short visit I always get the feeling that I am coming home. Well my father was born in Gweedore! Please keep up the good work in promoting the beautiful Donegal." Terrence Aston. February 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Wonderful page. Can't wait to see photos of Teelin." Kathleen O'Leary, January 2012 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Donegal is my favorite county and your beautiful site is evidence of your love for her. Whenever I get "homesick" over here in Pennsylvania, I visit you. Thank you." J. Cain, August 2010 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Hello to all of you, your WeLoveDonegal website is a great enrichment regarding to the information you get about this particular area in the internet. The information about the county Donegal seems to be a bit neglected in comparison to all the other areas of Ireland. My wife Joan (she is Scottish) and I (a German, sorry for my simple diction) have been to county Donegal four times within three years and had only a few "soft" days so our weather experience is not too bad so far. When Joan was a young girl (long before we met) she used to come over every year with a friend from Greenock visiting Mountcharles where they stayed for their holidays on a farm. And now after 40 years she went back to Mountcharles and introduced me to the family she hadn't seen so long. It was a great welcome and the Irish even accepted me in a way as if they knew me for that length of time as well. It was an experience I will never forget. Such friendly people. But believe me the Irish are like that if you keep yourself on the ground. Apart from this wonderful experience we toured through beautiful Donegal every day and there is so much beauty to be seen. We found a great B&B where we always go back to and are looking forward to our trip to Donegal in 2011. Have a good day... Kind regards" Joan&Peter Svensson, August 2010 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Hi Catherine many congrats on the fantastic new 'Grianan of Aileach' page -Love it." P.O'G., June 2010 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Fabulous site, fabulous photos - what can I say? The energy, invention and sheer enthusiasm that went into making it all attracts success like a magnet - well done! Go n-eiri an bothair libh!" Tony Sexton, June 2010 ~~~~~~~~~~ "Can i congratulate you on this wonderful site. It is packed with so much information. I thought i knew so much about this wonderful County, but i was wrong. Threres things on here i never realised. I esp love The Song Words. How many times have we sat in a little pub in Donegal, a guy playing music in the corner, and we DON,T KNOW THE WORDS! A great idea!!! You have captured the beauty of Donegal with the photos. An excellent site, and i wish you every success with it." M.Wilson, June 2010 ~~~~~~~~~~ "love this site. really helpful. great work."
