There are many islands off the coast of County Donegal most of which are uninhabited. They vary in size from tiny rock formations to the larger inhabited islands like Tory and Arranmore.
Tory island is unique in that it is the only island of Ireland which had it's own king up until the death of their last one, Patsaí Dan Mac Ruaidhrí (Patsy Dan Rodgers).
Aranmore Island, off Burtonport, is Donegal's largest and the second largest of Ireland's islands.
Lough Derg has around 46 "islands" including the famous Station Island, aka St. Patrick's Purgatory.
The inhabited islands have ferry services from various ports on mainland Donegal and some of the small craft operators will take passengers to the uninhabited islands.
